The Counterculture Museum in San Francisco will be presenting a special event on Monday night. “Allen Ginsberg’s Transcendence – from 1950s Beat Poet to 1960s Tribal Elder”, a display of artifacts and an open-forum discussion exclusively for its members.

Ginsberg”s parlor organ – (from its previous residence in Cherry Valley, and subsequent residence in Mamoroneck, Westchester County, to its proposed transatlantic transportation to William Blake’s home in Felpham) – we have written about this here
The Blake Cottage Trust is “restoring the Blakes’ beloved home to convert it into a major cultural site. To realise this vision”, they write, “(we) need your support. This fundraising campaign will help cover the logistical costs of transporting this extraordinary instrument from New York to Felpham” (no simple feat!) “Thanks to support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, part of the transport costs has already been secured. However, additional funds are (still) needed to cover the remaining expenses. Our target is £3,000.”
Looking for assistance there for a worthy cause.
The Writers Guild in Bloomington, Indiana, have been celebrating Allen’s Centennial with a number of events – film-screenings, a pop-up exhibit – and, this coming Sunday, at 7 o’clock, a Ginsberg celebratory reading. Joan Hawkins, the organizer of the Indiana University Libraries’ “You (probably) Haven’t Seen This Before” screenings and a guiding light within The Writers Guild, is interviewed about Indiana celebrations – here
