More Centennial Celebration Announcements – San Francisco’s Counterculture Museum, which opened just last year, celebrates its first anniversary on May 29th, just days before June 3rd, what would’ve been Allen Ginsberg’s 100th birthday – “Seeing as Allen was such a seminal figure of not only the Beat Generation, but a transcendent influence upon the next generation, the counterculture of the 1960s, it seems kind of perfect to celebrate our first year at Haight & Ashbury together with Ginsberg’s Centennial”, the organizers declare.
So, May 29 to June 4, a full week of events – “movies, panel-discussions, music, surprise guests” – more details soon
Previously, on the West Coast in May – May 13 at Big Sur at the Henry Miller Memorial Library – “an intimate music and poetry gathering” – more on that soon.
And official – it’s out – publication date was this past Tuesday – HarperCollins new Centennial edition of the Selected Poems 1947-1995
Tonight in New York at the 92nd St Y, there was originally going to be a Ginsberg Centennial event, but it has been cancelled.
