Beat Generation recordings. Well, we were hoping for a more comprehensive and more expansive list from Bandcamp. George Grella’s list (published a couple of weeks ago) left us, frankly, just a little bit disappointed. Good, I guess, to see Wichita Vortex Sutra acknowledged (and an acknowledgement that “Ginsberg’s discography is extensive”) – but why not the legendary re-discovered Reed “Howl”? – or, more pertinently, any one of Pat Thomas‘ lovingly-created re-issues (most recently, the companion CD to “Material Wealth“),
or even, (a pretty good gateway), our own Peter Hale and Jesse Goodman’s co-created two Fall of America tribute albums.)
Not forgetting:
And for the rest of the selections.. well, it’s a start, we guess, and was always just an intro’, never intended as a definitive document, but even so.
Beat discographies – not sure what we were looking for (something along the lines of Jim Cohn’s sterling work on Anne Waldman?) – (or Dave Moore & Horst Spandler’s exhaustive research (on Kerouac & Cassady) – see here)
Well, there’s always Discogs (a go-to spot) if you want to do your own research
and Spotify, of course, has some, pretty comprehensive playlists – see, most notably, an impressive ten-hour-plus selection of Beat Generation recordings – here

Mick Jagger turns 81 today. We commented last year on his amazing athleticism. The Rolling Stones recently successfully completed a grueling multi-venue US tour

Notably, this week saw the release of the first teaser- trailer for the highly-anticipated James Mangold film, A Complete Unknown, starring Timothée Chalamet as Bob.
The film is due for theatrical release this coming December
