William Blake – from The Marriage of Heaven and Hell – 2

Allen Ginsberg on William Blake’s The Marriage of Heaven and Hell continues from here

AG: So, the voice of the Devil now.  The illustration there, on the voice of the Devil, which has “Energy is Eternal Delight”, is really a pretty thing in color.  I don’t know if you’ve got (it or) if anybody’s seen it in color

That little fireball of the sun in the middle.  See?  Over there at the end.  And there’s a chained being (chained in flames) rising up, and then there’s another figure, masculine maybe, with a little babe, and the little babe is staring at the diabolic figure emerging from the flames. It’s generally considered to be the sea of time and space that they’re dancing on, or playing on.  So Blake is taking the Devil’s voice, or the Devil’s part, being evil, coming on with the tantric slogans, or analysis.
