Lawrence Ferlinghetti – outtakes from Richard O Moore’s 1965 WNET series, USA- Poetry

City Lights and Beat legend, Lawrence Ferlinghetti was born on this day.

When Ferlinghetti turned 100, in 2019, San Francisco’s Mayor and the city’s Board of Supervisors turned his birthday, March 24, into, officially, “Lawrence Ferlinghetti Day”.

 

Events planned for today – 7:06 A.M. sunrise –  706 Wisconsin St, Potrero Hill, formerly the Ferlinghetti family home – Readings & walk & talk to North Beach

12 Noon ~ gathering at Via Ferlinghetti (across from Gelato Classico), 576 Union St. (Ferlinghetti’s olive tree)

2 P.M – at  Golden Sardine,  362 Columbus Ave – Meet up and more readings & instigations

circa – 6:30 P.M – “Ferlinghetti Under The Dome” at The Palace of Fine Arts -(The Coit Tower Poetry Club)
