Last night in Paris saw the end of the Material Wealth  European tour with a reading at the fabled Shakespeare and Co in Paris

 

Interesting Ginsberg item(s) up for auction yesterday at Bonhams:

Siesta in Xbalba and Return to the States, first edition, (one of approximately 50 copies), inscribed to Gary Snyder “For Gary Snyder, another poet/ Kitkitdizze Aug 28, 1971/ Allen Ginsberg” –  “As Published by the Author, July 1956, Near Icy Cape Alaska At the Sign of the Midnight Sun”.   The item more than met its asking price, selling for £10,880 ($13,817).

 

Noted Czech poet Petr Hruška is on a brief North American tour, through till April 8th, and gives a rare reading today in New York at Columbia University – see here

Sad to record the passing of our dear friend Neeli Cherkovski –  who died this week, following a heart attack, aged 78.  Long-time resident of San Francisco, long-time Beat poet and biographer, long-time friend, we noted his extraordinary life and achievement – here.
