Herbert Huncke, “godfather of the Beats” was born on this day, January 9, 1915.

We celebrate today with, once again, remarkable footage from videographer, and our friend, Laki Vazakas  – Herbert, recorded in 1995, at the legendary Chelsea Hotel, reading his classic tale, “Elsie John”  (Désirée Nick and, executor of the Huncke Estate, Jerome Poynton, are seen in attendance).
