I’m now 48 years old, and spent 14 years in prison, from 2001 to 2015. I am a Canadian who served his time in a brutal US prison, and Allen kept me alive. Sometimes he was all I had. Upon release and return to Canada, I took my husband’s last name, who remains in the prison I met him in, and took for a middle name “Allen”, in tribute to my hero. Just want you to know I exist. In honor of him, I’m reading a book I missed through the years (books were difficult to get in there, all had to pass a censor) Vonnegut’s “Cat’s Cradle.”
