The 1985 Ginsberg, Corso, Burroughs conversation continues. The discussion opens up with a question from the audience
Q (Audience member): Burroughs!
WSB: Yes
Q (Audience member): Can I ask a question?
WSB: Yes. Yes, ask it.
Q (Audience member): Did you have any connection with (Wilhelm) Reich?
AG: With what?
Q (Audience member): With Wilhelm Reich
WSB: Oh well, yeah, I mean was interested in his theories and I still think that he was very much on the right track with his cancer cure, and a space doctor (sic) without any acknowledgment to Reich has repeated Reich’s cancer theory almost word for word – that a.. a cell with a high electrical potential to surface is non-cancerous and has a low surface potential, electrical potential, than (if) it is cancerous. And his orgone box is precisely designed to raise the surface electrical potential of cells. I think it needed a lot of work, you know, perhaps working with magnetized iron, but I think he was in the right track. And a doctor in France has said that cancer cannot exist in a strong magnetic field. But of course he was absolutely shoved out by the orthodox medical establishment, without even.. without any trials, one’s very simple and inexpensive. (They don’t want to know about something that’s simple and inexpensive, the more expensive it is the better!) So.. yeah, I think he has something very definitely, not as much as he thought he had but he had something, part of the cancer puzzle.
