1989, Ginsberg and Corso – The Conversation Continues – 7 (Vladimir Vysotsky)

Allen Ginsberg-Gregory Corso conversation continues from here

AG: The Russians had a couple of great singers.

GC:  Ok, the Russians.

AG:  (Vladimir) Vysotsky

GC: The Russians.

AG; Vysotsky was their great singer-poet, like (Bob) Dylan,  a good poet.

GC: Recent?

AG: He died in 1980 at the age of 42 – drink..

GC: Oh, I didn’t know that one

AG: …and everybody in Russia loved him.

GC: See, we didn’t know him in America. We knew just Andrei (Voznesensky) and Yvegeny (Yevtushenko)

AG: They were the ones that the Russians let out.

GC:  Well, yeah,  (so) we didn’t know them then..
