It is with great great sadness that we announce today the passing of the immeasurably wonderful and irreplaceable Joanne Kyger. She passed away yesterday, Wednesday March 22nd, at 11.11 a.m, at her home in Bolinas, aged 82, in the year of the Rooster.
Here is John McMurtrie’s obituary in the San Franciscan newspapers
and Rod Meade Sperry in the Buddhist journal, Lion’s Roar.
More on Joanne Kyger from past postings on the Allen Ginsberg Project – here, here, here, and here.
We wish her safe journeys
– and much more on Joanne to follow.
Here is a fairly extensive interview I did with her about her life and work:

Gloria and I did Add-Verse years ago with Joanne being one of 25 poets – she was great and fun to be with – Tom Raworth – an old friend was also one of the Add-Verse poets – Tom told me years ago that Joanne’s writing was still one of his favorites – Tom died in Feb. this year … We will miss you both! Both of great humor…
thank you, LLL
