Sur la route de Jack Kerouac, in eager anticipation of Walter Salles’ film adaptation, here’s Ann Chakraverty’s short film (bilingual, in French and English, sub-titles in French), a journey of discovery, a road trip, a classic odyssey – “in search of Jack Kerouac” – taking in San Francisco (Vesuvios, North Beach, Lawrence Ferlinghetti ) and Mexico City (with Jorge Garcia-Robles, re-visiting old Beat haunts). The great Mexican poet, Alberto Blanco is also featured in the film, speaking of a mythic Beat Mexico. The film concludes with him reading his poem, “Nostalgia” (both in English and in Spanish).
